Deferral of Studies

All programmes and modules offered at the Institute emphasise peer-to-peer learning, requisite pre-reading, class discourses, group projects and ‘surprise’ assessments. Consequently, non-attendance of classes would impact seriously on satisfactory learning outcomes. Therefore, the Institute mandates that students come to class on time (be seated in class before the scheduled class start time) and regularly attend all classes for all modules.

Attendance will be marked immediately at the start of the class. Late attendance interferes with class proceedings and, therefore, is not permitted. Attendance would not be granted if a student were not in class at the scheduled class start time.

If students do not attend least 60% of all classes for a module (including absence because of medical and family exigencies or late arrival because of traffic and other reasons) they would be debarred from participating in the final examination for the module and would also be awarded ‘0’ marks for class assessments (including group work) for the module.
